The taxi driver can not deny trip, short or long. Only in case of danger to the passenger, vehicle or driver may the driver deny a trip.
Taxi is regulated by the Occupational Transport Act and the regulations of the law. The county is responsible for taxi operation in its area.
The taxis are allocated by the county with a permit to drive passengers for payment from and in their own area. The drivers must have a license issued by the police authorities.
The taxi companies in Oslo / Akershus have the right to have own tariffs that are equal to all taxis within each company. The driver can offer less expensive, but never more than the company tariff. Prices must be shown by sticker on the taxi, if applicable with the company regulation inside the vehicle, and on the company websites. After 1 July 2018, when the customer has specified the destination, the driver is obliged to provide a price estimate. The offer must appear on the receipt when the trip has been completed. If there are a two price system form the company, the customer is always entitled to the lowest price.
There are varying requirements for the company profiling of their logo on the taxis. In Akershus, the company chooses this, while in Oslo it is a requirement from the municipality. The driver is always obliged to wear uniform.
The roof lamp is nationally regulated and must have letter / number and a logo showing the identity of company and the registered permit number.
The taximeter must enter valid receipt, with legal requirements for specification of details. The taximeter is plummeted.
